01 / Ownership
The part I owned
Before my first full-time role, I built the React frontend and Express/Firebase backend, including authentication, localization, content flows, caching, pagination, and accessibility-oriented preferences.
02 / Engineering decisions
What made the system hold together.
Optimize for repeated student use
Versioned caching, infinite-scroll pagination, recent-history shortcuts, and compressed links reduced friction in a resource-heavy interface.
Make accessibility visible
Direction switching, color themes, quick access, and recently viewed resources were product features rather than afterthoughts.
Own the complete delivery loop
The project covered interface design, React implementation, Express endpoints, Firebase services, deployment, and presentation to the internship company.
03 / Outcome
What exists now
The project became my first complete product handoff and internship capstone. The current platform is maintained by other members and no longer uses my web implementation.
Note — The linked platform is the current team-maintained product; my case study covers the separate 2023 implementation.
